Romance on the Rails Valentine Train

Train departs Durango at 1:30 pm and returns to Durango at 6:30pm.
Dinner & music in the Pullman Room of the historic Strater Hotel begins at 7:00pm (Premium & Deluxe-class package only.)

Enjoy the turn-of-the-century ambiance onboard a Premium-class or Deluxe-class car or vintage coach traveling along the Animas River to Cascade Canyon. The Premium and Deluxe-class package includes a festive buffet dinner at the historic Strater Hotel.

All passengers will enjoy a beautiful day riding the vintage train through the pristine wilderness to Cascade Canyon. For your convenience the Concession car will have a full bar as well as lunch and snack items available for sale all day.  At Cascade Canyon, you can warm up with a complimentary cup of hot chocolate by the fire in the covered pavilion or as you walk the snowy paths along the Animas River. On the return to Durango, attendants will serve a complimentary glass of Champagne (sparkling cider also available) and a romantic treat. The bubbly will be served in an etched D&S champagne flute that will be yours to bring home as a memento of this trip. 

Premium & Deluxe-Class Amenities:

Premium and Deluxe-class passengers can enjoy their day riding their choice of the Alamosa Parlor Car, the Cinco Animas , the Prospector car or the San Juan car. Return to Durango at twilight to join your fellow riders at a banquet set in your honor in the private Pullman Room at the Historic Strater Hotel. Dinner will be accompanied by the live music of Tim Guidotti.

A festive buffet will be served and will feature:Garden Salad Buffet featuring mixed fresh greens, shredded cheeses, olives, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, candied walnuts, red grapes, mandarin oranges, croutons and more.  Served with Chef’s choice of Two Dressings
Oven-roasted Salmon topped with Dill Cream
Maple Rosemary Chicken with Boursin Cream
Mashed Potatoes
Green Beans Almondine
Variety of Rolls and Butter
Dessert Buffet Featuring a Selection of Our House Favorites

Standard-class passengers will enjoy the same on-board amenities as our premium-class passengers but from the comfort of our vintage standard-class cars.

Premium Class Package seating options: $139* per seat (age 21+)

Prospector (seats 18) or Alamosa Parlor Car (seats 24) or Cinco Animas  (seats 16):

Fare includes dinner. These Premium cars include a private attendant, cash bar, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and champagne toast & flute, and a romantic treat in each car.

Deluxe Class Package: $119* per seat (Age 21+)
San Juan Car* (seats 30):
Fare includes dinner. Enjoy the comfort of the roomy, reversible, overstuffed seats as you travel in this vintage coach built in 1887. Walk next door to our Concession Car to enjoy cash bar, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and champagne toast & flute, and a romantic treat.

Standard Class Vintage Coach (seats 44):$64* per seat (no minimum age)
Dinner not included. Enjoy the classic comfort in our vintage cars with flip-over seats to accommodate parties of 4 to face each other if desired. Walk to our Concession Car to enjoy cash bar, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and champagne toast & flute, and a romantic treat.
