Ride the train on 45 miles of rails originally laid in 1882 between the historic mining town of Silverton and the railroad-built town of Durango, Colorado. Along the way, you’ll be treated to stunning vistas beside the pristine Animas River San Juan Forest through wilderness inaccessible by roads.

Choose from a 9-hour round trip tour, a train/bus combination, or a train & adventure package to fit in as much fun during your trip as possible!

Round Trip from Durango

Enjoy a full day on the train with a 9 hour round-trip experience beginning with a 3.5 hour journey from Durango to Silverton. Once there, you’ll have 2 hours to explore the historic mining town of Silverton before the 3.5 hour train ride back to Durango. View the Round trip schedule & fares.
Bus & Train Combo

The “Skyway Tour” option saves time & rewards you with equally as stunning views on the bus ride back along the San Juan Byway. Take the train to Silverton & ride the bus back to Durango, or take the bus to Silverton & ride the train back to Durango. View the Skyway Tour schedule & fares.
Silverton Departure

Looking to start your trip in Silverton? Our new Silverton Silverlight Express is your ticket! This trip is ideal for passengers staying in Silverton, Ouray or Telluride wanting to experience the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad without making the early morning drive to Durango! Choose between any of the seating options on our 1:45pm or 2:30pm train departure from Silverton combined with a van shuttle service back in the evening departing from the Durango Depot at 7:00pm. Enjoy some sightseeing, shopping or dinner in Durango prior to your transportation via van back to Silverton.
